Ok, so I wanted to write a non-career-related blog today, BUT sadly, I'm gonna fail at it. Wait though! Here's why - I wanted to share a story with you that coincidentally is also a career story. So that's why...
Back when I was laser-focused on my career, I literally worked so much that I had no work-life balance or integration. For real...I worked A LOT. I wanted to climb the ranks quickly and thought that in order to do that, I had to always be working. Almost as a way to prove myself. So I would wake up before the sun was up to work and wouldn't be home from work until after the sunset. I literally worked 10-12+ hour shifts and only came home to eat, snuggle with my kids for a few minutes, and then off to bed everyone went. Long story short, I didn't have time for hobbies! Sad, right?
I'm so happy to share that I now have hobbies! Better late than never, right? I always enjoyed reading, but never made it a priority and/or a part of my daily routine. And honestly, it was really hard to carve time out for it because I was working so much. Anyway, here we are! I read every night before bed and even read in the mornings when I feel like it. It's great! If you know me, you know I love historical fiction novels (especially Egyptian and Christian) and self-development books. I'd love to share some of my favs with you too:
Ask and It is Given - Esther & Jerry Hicks
The Red Tent - Anita Diamant
You Are a Badass Every Day - Jen Sincero
The Book of Longings - Sue Monk Kidd
Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It - Kamal Ravikant
Daughter of the Gods - Stephanie Thornton
Purpose, Meaning & Passion - Harvard Business Review
It's important to carve time out for hobbies, love. Do things that you enjoy!
Let me know what books you'd recommend for me to read in the comments section. I'd love to know!
💜 Mollie
